Artist Statement

I was born a first generation American, my father was a Finnish immigrant, and a cabinetmaker. My mom is from Yakima and is a very fine potter.

My family is very artistic. My siblings include a painter, a writer and an outdoor photographer. In my family, it is completely natural to have artistic talent and put it to good use.

This collection is all about observation. I wanted to paint blues that were similar yet distinct. Also with red and yellow. Then I became interested in plastic... Bags, lids, containers...

I am continuing on that path for now.
