Abigail Edwards is a friend of mine on Facebook and she recently wrote and a book, Quiet Pattern, about designing wallpaper. This includes images of her work and some friends’ work. The book is lovely; it talks about wallpaper designs and the comfort of looking at patterns, particularly repetitive patterns, which she discusses at length. In my classes we just got started drawing a repetitive similar shape it’s quite satisfying and puts one in the zone. It’s interesting that Abigail and I have that idea in common. The constant repetitive line is soothing and calming. She discusses this at length in her book and I highly suggest getting it. I just gifted the book to a local designer who sells her wallpaper.
