Don’t do what I do!
I had a painting that was a bit warped, the stretcher bars had gone a bit wonky, so I pulled the canvas off the bars and pinned the painting with push pins onto the wall. “I’ll re-stretch that”, I thought. Then I got a board and some glue. “Even better!” I think. “I’ll glue it to a cradled board, and it’ll be good.” The cradled board that I bought is the wrong size…So today I am delivering it (to a frame shop) and it will be with stretcher bars, and possibly with a cradled board, and I’m hoping the frame shop has time to take out of their busy day to make my piece ready to hang. It’s not ideal, and I hate it when I am curating a show and people bring me work that isn’t ready to hang. In a small no professional space, no one really cares if the piece is tacked to the wall with push pins or magnets…but in a gallery it seems wrong. Forgive me, Courtney.
