Wherever I go, I always keep a small notebook or sketchbook in my bag, purse, or pocket. Along with my favorite drawing tool, a water-soluble pen, I can be ready to draw anywhere, anytime. I like Pentel’s Tradio Style water-soluble pen (pictured below). I use it in combination with a brush pen that holds it own supply of water in the handle (shown below). The mini notebooks or journals I use now are Nava’s One Year of White Pages, made in Italy. The perforated holes on the opening edge used to bother me when I drew, but now I really like that feature. The Nava’s come in a box of 12. They’re very slim so I can easily carry one it in my pocket or purse. I make written notes or tiny sketches or doodles. With just a little paper and a drawing tool, I have a convenient and easy way to record what I see and think about as I travel the city, in search of my next subject. What’s your favorite notebook?
