Where do artists get inspiration? Everywhere. I sometimes have so many ideas that I write them down to work on later. My sister, Anita, and I share a studio, and grew up two years apart in a household with two other younger siblings. Our parents have both passed over, so we were thinking about our childhood and looking through old photographs (black and white). We decided to paint images of old childhood photos. She would paint in her style, I would paint in mine, and the show would evoke old memories and be rich in diverse and different painting styles. Fast forward two years, and the show is ready to be hung. It’s not at all what we imagined. It’s better! She made collages and I made paintings and she used images I’ve yet to put into play.
